On Warren Pond Farm is 37 acres of fields, woods, wildlife, ponds and spring fed streams. The underground railroad ran through these fields 150 years ago and the Iroquois tribes of Seneca and Cayuga lived on this land long before the Revolution. Grandfather Harry Warren farmed along the Tompkins-Schuyler County line less than a mile from here. Sam was born in the old farmhouse. Charlie bought the farm just south and west a hectare in the early 1950s. Uncle Donald and Aunt Nori continued farming the old homestead until they retired and moved into the village of Mecklenburg. Back then they grew a lot crops for seed, including buckwheat.

On Warren Pond Farm was established in 1998 with a mission to contribute to our local rural culture and community with the use of alternative energy and environmentally friendly farming practices.
